Screenplay Submission Rules:

- All writers must be over
18 years of age. No applicant and no individual within a group of applicants (multiple authors) may have received more than $5000 for any script they’ve written
- Submissions must be an original work of the applicant and not based, in whole or part, on another author’s work.
- Submissions may not be under option at the time of entry nor at the time the material is chosen as a finalist or Grand prizewinner. If said script is sold or optioned during the judging period, the writer will automatically be disqualified.
- Author(s) may submit multiple entries. Each entry must be mailed SEPARATELY with the appropriate entry fee
- Short length scripts of any genre,
except animation, accepted. No features accepted under any circumstances.
- Please mark each script with the appropriate contact information (i.e name, address, phone number, email address)
- ALL scripts must be copyrighted or registered with the WGA prior to submission
- Under no circumstances will substitutions of either corrected pages or new drafts of the entry screenplay be made or allowed once the script has been accepted and/or received by us.
- Please see the Submission Deadlines posted on the website. Applications will be accepted only by mail
or through our service provider, Without a Box.
- Judging will consist of elimination round and a final round. One Grand prize winner will be chosen from the finals.
- In the event that the Grand Prize winner cannot be contacted a runner up will be chosen, if possible.
- Film Genesis reserves the right to postpone the selection of winners if submissions do not meet our requirements for originality or
for traditional and/or acceptable industry standards for commercial screenwriting
- Scripts will not be returned under any circumstances. Please do not send originals.
- Finalists will be notified by mail and must be available for a final interview to be conducted by phone or in person.
- Entry must be accompanied by the following: A signed and completed entry form. A signed and completed
release form. An entry fee (made payable to “Film Genesis,” One completed original short Screenplay of no more than
15 pages. One self-addressed stamped postcard. The screenplay should be on letter-sized paper printed in black ink.
